Day 86 – Review
Peanut Butter & Jelly:
A Narwhal and Jelly Book 3
by Ben Clanton

Narwhal’s obsession with his new favorite food leads him into hijinks and hilarity in the third book of this all-star early graphic novel series!

Narwhal and Jelly are back and Narwhal has a new obsession . . . peanut butter! He’s so obsessed he even wants to change his name to . . . that’s right . . . Peanut Butter! Ever-sensible Jelly isn’t so sure that’s the best idea, but is all for Narwhal trying new things (instead of just eating waffles all the time, no matter how delicious waffles are).

In this third book, Narwhal and Jelly star in three new stories about trying new things, favorite foods and accepting who we are. Always funny and never didactic, this underwater duo charms again through their powerful combination of positive thinking, imagination and joyfulness.

I’ve never read this series before, so I really had no idea what to expect other than it was a children’s book.  But after reading a few pages I was hooked.  I really liked both characters Narwhal and Jelly.  Narwhal is kind of a mix of Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick Starr in one.  The super happy all the time of Spongebob and the idiocy of Patrick all smooshed together into a single character.

In this book Narwhal eats ONLY waffles.  Nothing but waffles…. I wonder does he use syrup with his waffles?  How does that work underwater?  Anyway before I get any more sidetracked, Jelly has a Peanut Butter Cookie and shares it with Narwhal.  This book is all about that cookie and what happens afterwards.

This is a really cute series that would be a great read for a young child 3-6 years old.  I know I fell in love with the characters quite quickly and had a smile on my face the whole time.

It doesn’t appear that this book or it’s previous books are available digitally so I can’t comment on whether it has DRM or not.  I did receive this book via #NetGalley for free temporarily to read and review.

Pre-Order on Amazon ($9.56, Hardcover)
