Day 9 – Review – The Hunted
(The Darkest Hand Trilogy Book 0)
by Tarn Richardson

*Thud* The sickening sound of a body hitting the ground and a skull cracking as it impacts the road below.  A crowd gathers, police push them back, priests arrive and realize it is one of their own.  Out of nowhere a large burly man appears out of the crowd, with a demeanor that says he is not to be trifled with.  He also is a member of the clergy, he quickly scans the scene and knows what happened.  He orders the other clergy to take his body to the nearest church.  He turns toward a nearby building and disappears into it.  The chase is on.

This Novella grabs you by the pants and pulls you along at a quick pace to try to discover what happened to the priest who died and what it all means.  I really like this reinterpretation of a famous historical event.

The protagonist is a gruff, not very likable character in general but you still feel yourself rooting for him on this short journey by the end.  I thoroughly enjoyed reading every bit of it and found myself wanting more by the end.

Unfortunately the book appears to have DRM on it which saddens me.  So that means if I do buy it, it will be on sale for a few dollars at most.  There is no way I’m paying $13 for a DRM encrusted file no matter how good of a book it is.  So just because it has DRM, I’m going to knock it down from what would have been an easy 5/5 but now a very respectable 4/5.
